The ECV project will produce a Self Training Computer Software, a Textbook, a Competence Accreditation methodology and a Social Relations Guide. These products will be promoted through a Network of Institutions aiming to meet the training requirements and to merge the employment desires of certified elderly-care-workers with the needs of the elderly-care-taking providers.
The project will undertake a front-end research that will identify: (a) the socially and scientifically recommended physical requirements of the elderly, (b) the skills, qualities and employment limits of the care-taking workers, and (c) the ergonomics of the corresponding processes with particular focus on non-invasive techniques.
The defined requirements will be consolidated into a vocational scenario which will be translated in the languages of the participating countries. The scenario will be extended into processes which will be converted to a self learning electronic training and validation software incorporating comprehensive audiovisual material (video clips, animations, close-up simulations, intelligible scripts) and validation exercises suitable for initial training of secondary school leavers as well as for re-training of qualified medical assistants and experienced elderly care workers.
The ECV self training software will utilize contemporary electronic PC platform with adequate data storage, fast retrieval technology and advanced audiovisual media enabling the trainees to learn the Elderly Care Vocations modules of “Attendance”, “Cleaning”, “Hygiene”, “Entertainment” and “Administration” at their own pace and in their own language.
The successful diligent trainees will have the option to apply, through the appropriate mechanism of the ECV network, for validation of their skills and award of the ECV Certificate of Competencies.
The partners will establish the ECV Network with wider implication of colleague organizations in order to cater for the dissemination of the ECV outcomes towards the target groups i.e.: Elderly Care Homes, VET Institutions, Social Partners as well as Individuals of any age and gender desiring to enter the labor market or/and take care of their elderly loved ones.
